Best Organization Ideas And Easy Home Repair Diys Using Everyday Household Items!
Who hates creaky doors and floors raise your hands? Me too! This is just a couple of the issues I face in my home. I wanted to compile a strong list of hacks and the best organization ideas to help out anyone who has been in my position before dealing with all the annoying factors that come with home maintenance. Leaking toilets…(deep breath) I have called a plumber in more times than I can count because I suspected that there were leaks and surprise! There was none, I don’t know about you but I don’t get any grants for home repairs, so I have to use these ahem… repair home appliances (potatoes, nail polish, rubber bands, WD-40 to name a few) it might be funny to you what I deem appliances, but they are ALWAYS readily available. So don’t knock it until you try it!
These alternative home ideas (using Kool-aid) especially to spot a leak in your toilet tank can help you confirm that there is, in fact, a leak and THEN you can call the plumber in (don’t worry the kool-aid doesn’t cause any harm to the hardware) it’s simple to decipher…color in the bowl = leak and of course no color, no leak. Another familiar topic would be the slamming doors, when my wife and I were going through that "design home ideas" phase it never dawned on me that I would hate my doors as much as I did. My door slams against the wall so much that there is an impression on the paint and damage to the edge of the door, some hgtv home ideas would have been a welcome relief at that time, but not one of those tips was addressing the issue, so you know what I did instead? I bought some cabinet door bumpers and glued them to the door jam, it was as if it never existed. Trust me, this will save you many headaches in the long run!
This particular repair trick will blow your mind, and no it didn’t come from any wood repair home depot. You know when you see those dents on your wood floors and it’s like you might have to do the entire thing over? Well, I am here to let you know that you don’t have to do that at all! Get your steam iron out (yes the one for clothes) and a damp paper towel. Place the damp towel over the floor dent and plug in your iron; move the iron in circular movements over the damp towel and I promise you when you remove it there will no longer be a dent present. You’re welcome, I saved you a bunch of money and you didn’t have to switch to Geico.
Lastly, my five your old daughter wanted to bless me with some of her decals for bathroom walls. I can’t begin to explain to you what my formerly pristine white walls endured. Luckily I didn’t use a flat color water paint in that room, it was oil paint. I brought out the WD-40, yes, yes I did and I was able to get all of that crayon and marker scribbles off in half of the time, with no new paint job. So it can be done, you can retain your maple floors in the kitchen, marble in the bathroom fixtures and still have time to teach your self those new 8 ball pool tricks!
